A clear example of this commitment is the project IDI-20240560 PROADIT, focused on the development of new sustainable additives for paints, aimed at replacing cobalt and methylethyl ketoxime with nontoxic substances.
Currently, alkyd coatings must meet demanding technical requirements. To achieve them, they are often formulated with components that can be harmful to human health and the environment. In particular, some anti skinning agents are based on ketoximes and certain driers use cobalt compounds. Trastamo considers it essential to offer the market safer and more sustainable alternatives, which is why it works on next generation additives supported by efficient and responsible technology.
The progress of the project will make it possible to define a new formulation protocol that incorporates driers and anti-skinning agents free of these toxic substances, sustainable, and capable of maintaining the performance required by the industry. The aim is to reduce the environmental impact of the sector and provide the market with more responsible coatings aligned with the protection of the planet.
The project has an expected duration of 24 months and a total budget of 235,867 euros, of which 101.866 euros are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
